Meet our Team: Vidishaa, The Content Manager

Introduction

In the second post of the “Meet our Team” series, we would like to introduce Vidishaa, DreamanDo’s Content Manager. Join us in this series as we find more about her, how she joined DreamanDo and what valuable advice she can offer us!

The Interview

Hello Vidishaa! Thank you for making time for this interview in your busy schedule! Can you briefly tell us something about yourself?

My name is Vidishaa Prakaash, I’m a Content Manager and language coach at Dreamando. My country of origin is India. I moved to France at the age of 19 to study French then continued to a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics with a specialisation in Teaching foreign languages from university of Poitiers, a Master’s in sociolinguistics from INALCO and simultaneously another masters in Phonetics and Phonology from Sorbonne Nouvelle’s ILPGA. I am currently writing my research thesis for that second master’s degree.

How did you come to join the DreamanDo team?

I originally applied to be a language coach at Dreamando, since I teach languages in schools and private institutions. During my interview, however, I really liked the idea of contributing my other skills like proofreading, application processes and the savoir-faire I’ve accumulated since I’ve been a part of over 14 universities worldwide in one capacity or the other.

Eventually, I decided to take up both the roles of language teacher as well as of content manager.

What are the things that you value in DreamanDo?

One of the first things that I really value at Dreamando is their policy on inclusion.

During my interview for one of the language teacher roles, it was mentioned that during the training process all language teachers would be teaching 5 sessions for free as a part of the training to get feedback on their teaching methods, which is directed towards people from economically weaker backgrounds to help them succeed too. Frankly, I found that to be an incredible part of the project. It was the one thing that made me decide I really wanted to contribute to Dreamando as much as I could, utilising all my skills.

What do you aim to achieve within the company?

Like I said earlier, I’m a language trainer and I’ve been a part of many universities as a student, intern, exchange student, and teacher. My aim is to help other people by using the skills I’ve gained over the years and my experiences.

Do you have any advice for people wanting to study/work abroad?

👏🏻Do👏🏻Your👏🏻Research👏🏻

You can’t just get up and move to a new place! As fun as that sounds, it’s a recipe for disaster. Make sure to do your research on how things work in a country, what you’d need, what you’d do and how most things like healthcare or administration works. Even basic things like public transport system, basic expenses for the first few months should be researched upon. My advice is: be prepared for anything! It’s a new place, it’s a whole new world.

Feel free to check Vidishaa’s LinkedIn and contact her with any questions about how she can empower you to achieve your dreams and goals!

Next week we will present our Language Team Manager and Co-founder, Liliana Onorato!
