Discovering EU calls
Creative Europe 2021-2027 is the new edition of Creative Europe programme developed by the EU Commission with the aim of supporting the cultural and creative sectors with 2.44 billion euros.
With a budget increase of 50% compared to the previous edition of 2014-2020, Creative Europe 2021-2027 programme is aimed at safeguarding and promoting cultural diversity and heritage.
According to the Commission’s guidelines – which are sustainability, innovations and digital – all the European program for this decade are intended to be more greener, digital, resilient, and inclusive. This new programme is composed by three sub-programmes which are:
- the Culture strand: covering all the cultural sectors, is targeting to sector-specific needs with emphasis on circulation of knowledge and creation of innovative scheme;
- the MEDIA strand: covering the audio-visual and film sectors, the specific actions are divided in four different line which are: content, business, audience and policy;
- the Cross-sectoral strand: covering the new media sectors aims at enhancing collaboration and cooperation. More in detail, is focused on supporting the freedom of journalism ‘sectors and crating innovation labs.
Managed by the Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency, the main objective of Creative Europe can be summarized as enhancing the cooperation at EU level for the artistic and cultural fields, encouraging innovation, sustainability and competitiveness of the audiovisual sector and promoting cross-sectoral and innovative actions.
In line with the broader objectives of the EU Commission which are digital and sustainability, the Creative Europe programme will be environmentally sustainable and digitally inclusive. Moreover, two are the most important novelties which consist in the easier access to funding thanks to the higher co-financing rates, and in the implementation of specific actions targeting precise and explicit sector-needs.
